Ponderosa Dirt and Development is owned and operated by Jed Smith, a North Idaho local who grew up around timber, acreage, and the long gravel driveways that come with rural living. He started the company with a simple goal: give property owners a dependable, straight-talking operator they can call when their land needs work.
Today Jed handles everything from fire-mitigation mulching and brush clearing to driveway regrading, stump grinding, and seasonal property maintenance. Every job starts the same way: walk the property, listen to what the owner wants to accomplish, and recommend the most practical way to get there, without selling work that isn't needed.
Wildfire risk is a fact of life in Kootenai County, and Jed takes defensible space seriously. Clearing ladder fuels and overgrowth is often the single most effective thing a rural owner can do to protect their home, and it's work he's proud to do for his neighbors.
